A 64 bit version of MacOS running on either an Intel-based
machine, or an ARM-based machine that implements an Intel
compatibility layer.
Apple ARM-based machines include those based on the M1 or M2 chip
designs, and currently implement a compatibility layer (called
Rosetta) that allows ArtiSynth to run as is, provided that you use an
Intel-based JDK (see Section 4).

A Java development kit (JDK) for 64 bit machines. We recommend
the JDK for the older Java 8. If your machine is based on the ARM
processor, you must still use an Intel-based JDK. See Section
4 for details.
ArtiSynth will generally work with later versions of Java, but Java 8
provides maximum compatibility with MATLAB (which still uses Java 8)
and the Jython interface.

A three-button mouse is useful for GUI interaction.

A machine with a good graphics card and a decent amount of
memory. We recommend 16 Gbytes, or more if you are doing FEM analysis
with larger numbers of elements.
