DIVA Meeting April 22, 2009

Zoe McDougall, David Litke, Rhiannon, Allison Lenters, Adriano Barbosa, Sid Fels, Karl Nordstrom, Johnty Wang, Bob Pritchard, Meryn Cadell

Zoe: 11 out of 14 have done the online surveys. Will put some pix up on the website of the results of the probe.

David Litke: has been working through ideas. Needs to get together with Meryn.

Rhiannon: has submitted her report. Now sorting files and making a list of those which worked and why.

Allison: has fixed the bounce on the consonants that Marguerite reported this week. We need to put the builds of fixes up on the wiki and then be able to download them from there. Discussion followed between Sid and Karl as to how to number builds. Major revision number includes potential file format changes, etc. Second digit indicates a feature change. Next number is a bug fix. Next four digits are the sub version number.

Gave 518 presentation on Monday to demonstrate work with visuals and voice – the watermelon and the block -- and it was well received according to Sid.

Started working on the recorder again.

Adriano: working on defining the sessions between training and performance modes for collecting data. Training can work on specific items while “performance” will be a set list of words or sentences to perform for collecting for comparison. Has discussed with Allison and Sid what the interface should look like.

Sid: has made his arrangements for Festival flights, etc.

Karl: has been documenting the work he has been doing – will post on the wiki in the local directory. In the process of taking over MJ’s translation of Holmes code from C to C++ -- checking documentation, etc. Setting up Subversion at present. May be able to sue the SVNX structure that Gregor set up over in HCT. Discussion followed as to whether this was an appropriate approach – Allison had some reservations about the way it is working at present.

Karl will start by trying to modularize some of the simpler parts of the code before working on the larger aspects.

New laptop has arrived and Karl has set it up. Running Max/MSP/Jitter in demo mode at present. Bob needs to get MJ’s number.

Need to order a new large screen to go with the laptop. Karl can order that through Lavana.

Johnty finishing the Bluetooth modules and documentation. Would like to order the Bluetooth modules for the next version. Sid asked him to send the order info and Sid will look after that.

Meryn: the current libretto is fixed for What Does A Body Know? His niece will be our gopher at the Festival. Meryn will talk to Open Ears about press releases etc. with an eye towards contacting people that we know out there. We need to get photos of Marguerite in costume for press releases.

Lighting: Bob and Itai met this morning to discuss lighting issues. We are doing a hang, focus and run through on Monday and Tuesday in the Somerset studio, to which everyone is welcome. Tuesday will be a better time for viewing.

We are renting an ETC board for use in the studio and then renting another one in Kitchener-Waterloo. All cues will be recorded here.

Susan Bertoia and Marguerite will be working on the movement during our time in the studio.

We need to write the new protocol for assembly and boot up, and we need to start putting together the equipment collection in the lab for the large Pelican case.
